History
Fragmento began in 1992 as a private group dedicated to promoting conservation and biodiversity. Fragmento engaged in field explorations to catalog biodiversity in various zones in Colombia, and also participated in academic and social activities. In 2003, Fragmento was founded as a non-profit organization formally dedicated to conservation and sustainable development. Fragmento has organized and conducted biological research, undertaken environmental education programs, and worked to build stronger institutions for the protection of the environment within Colombia.
Presently, Fragmento has signed an agreement to manage El Aguacate Natural Reserve of the Civil Society in Choco, Colombia -an ecoregion known as Chocó-Darién.
